Light enters through the transparent ruby layer then reflects off the opaque fire layers within the design creating depth and luminosity.

The design depicts a star in its early formative stage where dense interstellar clouds of hydrogen gas collapse into spheres of plasma which ignite into the searing hot celestial bodies that power our universe.
