An epiphany is the sudden realization of the larger essence or meaning of something. The term is used to express that one has found the last piece of a puzzle and now sees the whole picture or truth.

Such is the case with the Epiphany which melds plate, bowl, sculpture, cane and blowing techniques into a single “epiphanic” episode of art.

The process provides a significant experience for the artists and deeper meaning through an elevated frame of reference for the viewer.

Epiphanic episodes can occur early in a career with ramifications worked out in detail over a lifetime.

Famous epiphanies include Archimedes’ realisation of how to estimate the volume of a mass inspiring him to shout “Eureka! (“I have found it!”).

As a child, Albert Einstein was given a compass and realized that some unseen force in space was making it move.
