Fire Agate is a gemstone found in parts of Northern Mexico and three Southwest States here at home.

Their magic originated 36 million years ago when super-heated water dissolved silica and iron oxide filling voids in strata during volcanic events.

The gem images on the left are not lit from behind.

Instead, they light up internally, something that baffled people for centuries until physics and geological science explained the phenomenon.

If you turn a piece of fire agate it will flash deep inside like lights are being turned off and on.

Our glass furnaces duplicate these natural processes when we fuse rare earth metals with molten silica.

Careful layering of clear, transparent and opaque colors captures and refracts light within this design.

When the sculpture is placed near a window with the sun just above the horizon the effect is fully revealed.
