Our Ice Flame finds its inspiration in the work of Robert Frost, the Poet laureate of Vermont and four time Pulitzer Prize winner.

Frosts poem contemplating the world’s destruction corresponded with a ongoing debate at the time.

Some believed the world would be incinerated by its fiery core while others were certain a coming ice age would destroy all life on earth.

Frost asked Harlow Shapley, the premier astronomer of his day, how he thought the world would end.

Shapley responded that either the sun will explode and incinerate the Earth, or the Earth will slowly freeze.

A year later in 1920 Frost published his famous poem:

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I’ve tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice Is also great
And would suffice – Robert Frost
