Volcanoes are produced when continental plates, floating on the Earth’s molten interior, slip under or pull apart from each other.

The word ‘Volcano’ derives from the Roman God of Fire who was named Vulcan.

Continuing our evolution of volcanic inspired designs, the Montserrat incorporates opaque and transparent magma with black basalt and neutral fleck tones.

The goal was to capture the visual impact of a glowing red river of lava which often has large chunks of cooled rock being carried along in the flow.

The design is inspired by the Caribbean island of Montserrat located in the Lesser Antilles of the West Indies.

On July 18, 1995 the Soufrire Hills volcano there erupted, burying Montserrat’s capital city of Plymouth, its docks and airport in 2,200 degree volcanic flows.

Two-thirds of the island’s population were forced to flee.
